How I Got Zoey!

Molly

The story starts with my dog Molly. I had Molly for 12 years before she took ill with bladder cancer.  On March 17th 2011 I had to lay Molly to rest. It was one of the hardest things I had to do. Molly was a wonderful dog and companion. Unfortunately for her, she was with me through some very hard years. She was such a wonderful sweetheart. She was in my eyes, the perfect dog. There will never be another Molly.

Dellmar

Over the 12 years that I had Molly I had become disabled. I didn’t think I would ever be able to train another dog and so I let the idea go. Cut to almost a year later and my sister adopted a new dog she named “Dellmar”. He was 10 months old I believe when she got him and he was very skittish and when she would leave him alone for any length of time, he would tear things apart and bring couch cushions outside. I took to him right away and just loved him. He made me long to have my own dog again. I still held off though.

On the one year anniversary of Molly passing over, my sister asked me if I could go and check on Dell while she was out. She said she would be home around 2:00 pm… I was thinking about Molly because it had been a year… I sat on the couch and just stayed quiet with my thoughts and kept Dell company. Now he is a big boy… and he wormed his way up on the couch next to me and shoved his big dopey head through my arm and laid his head on my lap. We just sat there like that and I was turned to mush. I missed that feeling so bad! I looked at the clock and hoped for my sister to come back late because I was just lost in that moment.  When I got home, I made the decision that I was going to get myself a dog. J

Zoey's first day

Zoey Now 7/2015
That very night I was cruising a local buy swap sell group that I moderated on Facebook and saw this adorable puppy that someone was looking to rehome for 100.00. I fell in love with the picture and quickly responded to the owner. I was the first reply of quite a few so I had first option.  The owner had looked at my profile and saw that Molly had her own facebook page with lots of pictures, so they knew I was a good dog Mom and agreed that I could have her. I was soooooooo excited! She was a 15 week old Beagle and they named her Zoey. I was not a fan of the name to be honest, and I wanted to name her Abby, but I decided to keep her as Zoey to honor her first family.

It was love at first sight!  I can't lie... Zoey was and is a giant pain in the butt. She makes me crazy, but she is lovable, cuddly and affectionate. Sometimes I can just look at her and she turns me to mush. So it kind of balances out.

There you go... that's my Zoey story. She is my constant companion and I am sure I will post a lot about her.
